Let me tell you! They were after my heart on this one. The bride had a 1920's theme and it was amazing. I LOVE the 20's. To be able to see this wedding and photograph it was just the best thing I'd done up till now.
Katie and her family did an awesome job on getting all the little details set. They were married at The Waters in Oshkosh which is now one of my favorite places by the way...and they hand made just about everything. The bouquets were just fantastic! They made them by hand then decorated them with the broaches and other accessories from her passed Grandmother. (awww...)
Here is a little sneak peek at the old saying...
Katie and her family were so very clever and original. They got this amazing idea or making their own bouquets and using her passed Grandmother's old jewelry to decorate it. Hence...something old. The bride and each bridesmaid had their very own version of the bouquets and it definitely touched the hearts of many that day.
Something new was the bride's Wedding gown and the Water was borrowed. Katie wore her birthstone on her right hand that day to symbolize something blue.
And last but not least...the one that most people forget about. A Silver Sixpence in her shoe! Yes...yes, this is much much forgotten about, but back in the day, women would put the silver sixpence in their shoes as a token of good luck and good marriage. A sixpence for those of you who may not know, is a coin that is work 6 pennies. The Father of the Bride is a coin collector and so kindly gave her a coin for her special day. And of course....the best solution to anything...she duck taped it to her shoe!
This is going to be a wedding to remember for sure =D
The Waters, an amazing place to hold events. It was fully restored and opened in May of 2008. It is just an absolutely amazing place to be Wed..and let me tell you. A little tad bit of advice to any brides interested in booking this place. Kim, the general manager is a super sweet lady AND the place is so gorgeous just the way it is, that you can save money by not hiring someone to decorate if you wanted to! How cool is that?
Derek and Katie chose to see each other before the ceremony. What better place than the grand staircase in this magnificent building.
Even though it was a cold and windy day, this couple stepped out there and braved it for some pretty awesome shots.
The funnest parts after the ceremony and dinner would have to be their first dance and the bouquet toss. This couple had taken the time to learn a choreographed 1920's swing type dance and performed it as their first dance as husband and wife. Groom jumping over bride....bride getting flipped my groom...it was a site to see. Luckily, they also hired a videographer, so they get to re-live that memory over and over again.
As for the bouquet toss...let's just say, Bride ZOOKA. Oh yes...talk about lauching your bouquet off the balcony.
